Alan Ball
Player News
Alan Ball (quadriceps) was released with an injury settlement.
He was signed as a potential depth player in the secondary in August. He was dealing with injury at the time, however, and the Cards have elected to move on as part of their roster-trimming moves on Tuesday.
Alan Ball did not practice Monday.
The veteran corner, who was signed earlier this month, is down with a quad injury according to Head Coach Bruce Arians. There is not much else known in terms of a timeframe or length he'll be out. At 31, muscle injuries in the legs can take a while to come back from and he isn't expected to factor in the higher end of the depth chart anyway. Ball's condition should be updated on Tuesday in all likelihood.
Cardinals signed Alan Ball.
Ball has not been much more than a reserve player throughout his career, and his signing with the Cardinals is no different. It is very possible the veteran may not even make the opening day roster. He does not impact the Cardinals defense for fantasy purposes.
Bears CB Alan Ball will not practice Monday.
All reports out of training camp say that Ball is fully recovered from his torn biceps injury which he suffered back in October of 2014. This is the first season that he'll be thrust into major playing time after being in a reserve role in Chicago. He has been graded out by Pro Football Focus as better against the run than he did versus the pass. The Bears are giving him a day of rest on Monday.
