Sam Shields
Player News
Sam Shields says he is still having headaches stemming from his Week 1 concussion but that he wants to keep playing next season.
This is obviously an unfortunate development for Shields, as lingering effects from a concussion lasting this long is cause for plenty of concern. Hopefully the seven-year veteran can fully overcome this issue during the offseason and resume his NFL career. The Packers are reportedly assessing Shields' future with the organization now that their season has come to an end.
Packers are placing CB Sam Shields on injured reserve.
Shields suffered the concussion in Week 1 against Jacksonville and hasn't seen the field since. At this point, without him making progress, it makes sense for Green Bay to free up a roster spot for at least eight weeks. Having their top cover corner out for the next eight weeks, all games, it could be a tough road to hoe for their defense to remain one of the better units in the league.
Sam Shields is still out of practice and will not play Week 7.
Shields will miss his sixth consecutive games with a concussion. With Shields being unable to practice means he will not be playing in the game. With a concussion lasting this long should be a red flag.
Sam Shields (concussion) will not practice Thursday.
Shields has not played for the Packers since Week 1, as his concussion symptoms have persisted for around a month now. His status for this Sunday's matchup with the Cowboys is definitely in jeopardy.
