Walter Thurmond
Player News
Walter Thurmond is retiring from the NFL at the age of 28.
There is not much longevity in the NFL and Thurmond is another young player retiring before the age of 30. The struggling Eagles will look to replace him this off season.
Walter Thurmond is contemplating retirement from football.
Thurmond played in all 16 games for Philly in 2015, amassing an impressive 71 tackles, two sacks and three interceptions. He is only 28 years old, so perhaps his decision to leave football is not yet concrete certain, especially if a team were to offer him a significant contract as a free agent.
Eagles have not started contract negotiations with impending free agent Walter Thurmond.
The 28-year old will be a free agent this season, and while the Eagles plan to try and resign him, talks have not yet occurred. At this point, it sounds like the Eagles and Thurmond will have negotiations near the combine.
Walter Thurmond will practice on Thursday.
Thurmond missed Wednesday's practice with a hamstring issue, but his return Thursday should indicate that he'll be fine for the Eagles' Week 13 match-up with the Patriots.
