Antoine Cason

Cason wasn't signed before the surgery and this injury ends his season. He started 11 games for the Panthers last season, before playing for two more games in Baltimore before the end of the season. He has 16 career interceptions since his arrival in the league in 2008.

Cason was released earlier this month and the Ravens, who just got back Asa Jackson, would love to add a veteran like Cason to the mix. Look for him to join the secondary and see an immediate upgrade.

Cason was released on Tuesday, due to poor performance, which allowed Carolina to get a better look at rookie Bene Benwikere at corner. The Chicago defense is in tatters and while cornerback is not a position where they are the weakest, it seems likely that they want to bolster their depth in the defensive backfield.

Reports are that the Panthers are beginning to give into the fact that they are probably not going to make the playoffs and moves like this support that claim. The Panthers apparently want to see what they have in younger players and plan on playing them in favor of struggling veterans.
