Ike Taylor
Player News
Steelers announce Ike taylor has retired from the NFL.
The Steelers have now seen Taylor and Troy Polamalu walk away from the game, leaving their secondary in shambles. They will need to retool with the draft or they could see aerial assault all season. Taylor ends his career having only played for Pittsburgh during his 12-year career, missing 11 games last season.
Ike Taylor seems to know his playing days are likely over after he hasn't drawn a sniff of interest on the free-agent market.
Shoulder and forearm issues limited the 34-year old to just five games in 2014. This early in the offseason and before the draft, teams aren't looking to add a veteran like Taylor just yet. He may draw some interest later, but if he is disgruntled enough with the lack of attention now, perhaps he chooses to hang 'em up rather than wait.
Steelers are reportedly "unlikely" to re-sign Ike Taylor.
Taylor has spent his entire 12 year career as a Steeler, but was only able to feature in five games in 2014 and missed out on the AFC Wildcard loss to the Ravens. The 34-year-old cornerback is without a deal for the upcoming season and will most likely not feature in the black and gold any longer. Brice McCain started nine games in Taylor's place, but he is also an unrestricted free agent so the off-season will dictate who takes the starting job in Pittsburgh.
Ike Taylor (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game.
In all likelihood he will be a game time decision with his status being determined after pregame warm-ups.
