Robert McClain

McClain will be a depth add for the Chargers who are losing secondary members each week at this point. McClain hasn't been great but has been serviceable with Carolina most recently.

McClain was signed midway through last season, and started in the Panther's Super Bowl game. He played in 11 games this season, starting in six of them, and recorded 38 tackles with .5 sacks. The Panthers drafted three CB's in this year's draft, which has reduced McClain's role throughout the season.

McClain was with the Pats in training camp before being cut in the trim down to 53-man roster and has yet to play this season. Carolina is hurting in the slot coverage department now with the injury to Bene Benwireke but with that said, the Panthers defense is already one of the tops in the league and this shouldn't change that at all.

McClain has experience at the NFL level, but was cut by the Patriots before the start of the regular season. The Steelers are looking for depth in their secondary and McClain may be the piece that they need. Nothing appears to be close, but there is definite interest between the two parties.
