Dolphins have cut Chris Culliver.
Miami Dolphins CB Chris Culliver has been battling injuries this season, and although his return was hopeful, Miami needed to make room to promote center Mike Pouncey. In a corresponding move that brough him up, the Dolphins were forced to cut Culliver from the team.

If either cornerback plays a significant role Sunday, that would likely be bad news for the Dolphins and good news for Philip Rivers and the San Diego wide receivers. This was probably a good matchup for the Chargers regardless, but look for them to try to exploit the lack of depth in the secondary.

After ultimately deciding he wasn't ready to return for their Week 9 tilt against the Jets, the Dolphins decided one day later he'll be good to go going forward. Culliver -- previously with the Redskins and 49ers -- has always been a ballhawk when he's been able to stay healthy. He hasn't been able to play a full season since 2012 so don't expect him to be any sort of IDP player going forward.

The defensive back has been practicing for the last couple of weeks as he returns from knee surgery he underwent in November of last year. It’s still to be determined how much playing time he will get when he is activated, but the veteran should give a boost to the Dolphins secondary.
