Montee Ball
Player News
Montee Ball has been sentenced to 60 days in jail.
The hits just keep on coming for Montee Ball, who just two years ago, was expected to be a fantasy darling for years to come with Denver. Ball spent some time last year with New England but was cut after an altercation with his girlfriend and will now serve jail time as a result of violating the terms of his bail. Ball was never on an active roster in 2015 and at this point, we'll likely never see him in an NFL uniform again.
Montee Ball has been charged in a second abuse case.
Patriots have waived running back Montee Ball.
For those of you that even knew that Montee Ball was on a roster, this is not surprising as he was just arrested last week on domestic violence charges. The league has been trying to stray away from players with domestic violence, even putting in a new rule where college prospects can't be involved in the combine or draft process if they have a history or charges for domestic violence. Ball was a second-round pick out of Wisconsin and highly regarded, but could not get things going, even with Peyton Manning tossing 55 touchdowns in his rookie year. It appears that he battled weight problems during his time on the Patriots' practice squad, and his career could be over at 26 years-old.
Montee Ball's contract has expired and he was not signed to a new deal so he is now a free-agent.
After being taken in the second round of the 2013 draft, Ball had a very solid rookie year and was poised to open up '14 as the Broncos starting running back. He was injured and lost out on his job as C.J. Anderson dominated the second-half of the 2015 season, leaving Ball without a place on the team. He was signed by the Patriots this season, in December, but it was only for the duration of the season. He'll be looking for a new home that needs someone to carry the Ball.
