With Sims no longer in the mix, the Bucs' 2018 backfield will be headed by Peyton Barber, Jacquizz Rodgers and Ronald Jones. Once Sims is healthy, he'll be free to catch on with another team, and in the right context it's conceivable that the 27-year-old could re-surface on the PPR radar.

After injuring his left knee in Saturday's preseason game at Tennessee, Sims wasn't believed to be dealing with a serious concern, but Thursday's roster move indicates otherwise. Thus, his fifth professional campaign is over before it can even start. The development makes the backfield easier to parse out for Week 1 and beyond. Peyton Barber is the likely starter, with rookie Ronald Jones II and Jacquizz Rodgers providing support. Meanwhile, the fourth and final spot may come down to roster cuts on Sept. 1, but undrafted free agent Shaun Wilson may be closing in on a job as well.

Sims missed ten weeks due to injury already, so his season is done. With Doug Martin also out, Jacquizz Rodgers is worth a look in the daily game, and for those with Week 17 seasonal games.

Sims was activated from the team's injured reserve list earlier this week after going down with a knee injury back in Week 4, and it appears as though he will play today against New Orleans. Sims isn't someone that you would want to start in any format but his return is noteworthy as he will take away some work from starter Doug Martin, who has struggled at times this season.

It's unclear how much they plan to play Sims, but the Bucs have voiced their concerns over their poor run game. Sims may catch a few balls, but he's way too tough to trust in any format.
