Anthony Dixon
Player News
Anthony Dixon was released on Tuesday.
The Bills had no use for Dixon's services with the emergence of Karlos Williams. The move creates over $1 million in salary-cap room for the team. Dixon's 21 carries for 44 yards was not what the organization was expecting when they signed him last off-season. He may find a very limited role elsewhere, but he won't be going anywhere for a big role.
Anthony Dixon is questionable to return with a knee injury.
This does not affect the run game for the Bills, as Anthony Dixon has 18 rushes all year for 33 yards and a touchdown. Dixon has added five catches for 40 yards and no touchdowns. Dixon has had some play in the return game, but only has 48 yards all year on returns.
Coach Rex Ryan says Anthony Dixon is the No. 1 running back if LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams cannot play.
Uncle Rex is throwing on his Captain Obvious cape with this announcement as few people believed that Cierre Wood or recently signed Daniel Herron would handle the workload. The match-up against the Titans would be a favorable one as they give up an average of 113.7 rushing yards per game. However, Dixon has never handled a full workload by himself or even been the lead back in a committee, so you probably shouldn't have high expectations.
Anthony Dixon carried the ball three times for one yard and a touchdown in the Bills 27-14 win over the Colts on Sunday.
Dixon scored on a goal line plunge and looks to be third on the depth chart for regular carries behind LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams. It will be interesting to see if Dixon sees all of the goal line work as it would damage McCoy's overall value.
