Zach Miller
Player News
Miller (knee) was placed on the Reserve/PUP list on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
By being placed on the Reserve/PUP list, Miller's season is officially over, but the Bears reportedly knew that the tight end would be unable to play when they re-signed him Monday. In fact, it's possible that Miller may never be able to play in the NFL ever again after rupturing an artery in his left leg last season. Miller will ultimately revert to injured reserve once the regular season is underway.
Miller dislocated his left knee during Sunday's 20-12 loss at New Orleans, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Miller suffered the injury at the tail end of what was called a touchdown catch on the field. While the Bears medical staff was stabilizing his leg with an air cast, though, it was determined he didn't complete the process of the catch. Miller has been taken to a New Orleans-area hospital, where it may be determined that surgery is necessary right away. Moving forward, the Bears will rely on Dion Sims, Daniel Brown and Adam Shaheen to hold down the fort at tight end.
Bears coach John Fox suggested Miller (foot) is tentatively expected to be ready for the start of training camp, Brad Biggs of The Chicago Tribune reports. "As far as Danny, Zach Miller ... they're going to cut it close for training camp, but right now they're right on target and that's kind of what we expected all offseason," said Fox.
Zach Miller has a broken foot and will miss the remainder of the season.
Miller had 3 catches for 61 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game with injury. With Miller set to miss the remainder of the season the Bears will likely sign another TE to their roster. For now, Greg Scruggs stands to gain the most reps as the #1 TE in Chicago.
