Grimble signed a reserve/future contract with the Colts on Monday.
Grimble had a workout with the Colts in mid-November but never actually ended up signing with the team, but he'll now be with Indianapolis for the beginning of offseason work. The 27-year-old caught 23 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns in 47 games with the Steelers before being released off injured reserve in October.
Grimble worked out for the Colts recently, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Grimble was released off injured reserve by the Steelers in early October. The Colts could use tight end depth as only Jack Doyle is healthy at the moment.
Grimble (calf) reached an injury settlement with the Steelers on Friday per the NFL communication's official transaction report.
Grimble was placed on injured reserve prior to the Steelers' Week 4 victory over the Bengals. It appears the injury was not all that serious, and he will now be free to look for a new opportunity.

Grimble, who logged one catch for three yards over Pittsburgh's first three games, suffered a calf injury this past Sunday against the 49ers. It's a severe enough issue for him to land on IR, a move made in conjunction with the team's acquisition of fellow tight end Nick Vannett.
