Patriots signed OG Wes Schweitzer, formerly of the Jets, to a one-year contract.
Schweitzer has spent the last two seasons with the Jets, starting two of the 10 games he’s appeared in. The eight-year vet has 62 career starts to his name, but has started only 13 games over the last four seasons. Schweitzer shouldn’t be viewed as anything more than a depth signing at this point after playing primarily as a backup since 2021.
Jets signed G Wes Schweitzer, formerly of the Commanders, to a two-year, $5 million contract with $3.165 million guaranteed.
Schweitzer spent several weeks on injured reserve with a long-term concussion, playing only seven games for the Commanders last season. He'd appeared in at least 10 games in every other season of his career. He should profile as an inside depth piece for the Jets.
Commanders placed C Wes Schweitzer (concussion) on injured reserve.
It means Schweitzer will miss at least the next four games. Chase Roullier, who opened the season as the starter at center, is also on injured reserve with a knee issue and could be out for the season. Nick Martin will likely get the starts at center as long as Schweitzer and Roullier are out.
Commanders C Wes Schweitzer (concussion) won't play in Week 4 against the Cowboys.
Third-string center Nick Martin, who the team signed earlier this season off the street, will likely start at center for the Commanders. It's not the most ideal situation for Washington's running game, and the Cowboys already figured to be a bit of a challenge for them.
