Johnson was waived to make room for Amari Rodgers, who Houston claimed from the Packers. Johnson had one catch for eight yards in two games with the Texans. He could find a home on a practice squad in the coming days.

It could be an indication that Nico Collins' groin injury might keep him sidelined for Week 8. Johnson isn't fantasy viable, however. Look for Phillip Dorsett and Chris Moore to see starter's snaps if Collins is out. 

Johnson had played just four offensive snaps in two active games with the team. The speed merchant is also a fine returner and managed 398 receiving yards and three touchdowns in Justin Herbert's rookie season with the Chargers. He may draw some interest on waivers.

The Jaguars have first priority on waiver claims and will use the advantage to claim Johnson. The third-year UDFA was a surprise cut by the Chargers, after flashing last year with Los Angeles with and excellent 2.44 yards per route run. Johnson enters a Jaguars depth chart without a clear No. 4 wide receiver. It's a best base landing spot for Johnson that gives him an opportunity to play meaningful snaps in 2021.
