Trevor Bates

Bates was recently promoted from the practice squad following the release of Sio Moore, but on Thursday the run on the active roster ended. Bates could be retained on the practice squad if he clears waivers, which is certainly possible given his underwhelming time on the field.

Bates will take the spot on the roster given up by Sio Moore, when he was waived earlier on Tuesday. Bates was a seventh-round pick in 2016 out of Maine at number 239 overall, so the likelihood that he starts at linebacker is very small. He should get some run on special teams however so he can see game action.
