Trevone Boykin
Player News
Boykin was waived by the Seahawks on Saturday.
There had been some rumblings of Boykin losing out on the backup spot but that wasn't made clear until after the team's decision to waive the 24-year-old. Boykin has had a troubling offseason which may have factored into the team's decision to part ways, but credit Austin Davis for earning his keeps during the preseason. Boykin will likely draw interest from some other teams so he could still see the field at some point this season, just not in a blue and green uniform.
Trevone Boykin was charged with misdemeanor assault from his December arrest.
Boykin was arrested on Decemeber 31st after a late-night incident near a bar in San Antonio. He was suspended for the Alamo Bowl and was not selected in the 2016 NFL draft. Boykin has been charged with assault causing bodily injury, which is a misdemeanor in Texas. The charge could result in up to a year in jail. The arraignment has been set for August 1st.
Trevone Boykin has a shot to be No. 2 QB in Seattle.
Following a stellar career at TCU that saw him finish fourth in Heisman balloting in 2014 then 10th in 2015, Boykin was not selected in this year's NFL Draft. However, the Seahawks wasted little time in picking up the dual-threat QB as a free agent.
