Broncos signed WR Trent Sherfield Jr., formerly of the Vikings, to a two-year contract.
Sherfield Jr. caught just eight passes in 2024 for 83 yards with one touchdown, but he was a key cog in the Vikings’ special teams. He should assume a similar — maybe identical — role with Denver in 2025.
Vikings agreed to terms with WR Trent Sherfield, formerly of the Bills, on a one-year contract.
Sherfield’s odds of re-signing in Buffalo evaporated after the Bills inked Curtis Samuel. Journeyman Sherfield caught 11 balls in 17 games for the Bills last season, failing to compete for targets even as the Bills dealt with serious depth issues in their receiver corps. Minnesota, meanwhile, has one of the league’s deepest wideout groups. It’s not a given Sherfield makes the 53-man roster.
Bills WR Trent Sherfield (ankle) won’t practice on Wednesday.
Sherfield was hurt in the first half of Week 10’s loss to the Broncos and did not return to the game. Wednesday practice was just a walkthrough, so his absence isn’t necessarily a sign he’ll miss Week 11. While Sherfield is just a depth piece on the Bills, the team recently fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, so it’s unclear if the offensive scheme or personnel will change at all in the coming weeks.
Trent Sherfield caught 2-of-3 passes for 18 yards in Week 3 against Washington.
Sherfield was a big winner in the preseason and seemed to really impress the Bills’ coaches. However, he was dinged up to start the season, and these are his first two catches of the year. The Bills don’t really have a third receiver behind Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, so there is a chance for the former Miami Dolphins receiver to work himself into a larger role if he can prove to Josh Allen that he’s a sure-handed receiver, who can help move the sticks.
