Giants signed CB Tre Herndon, formerly of the Jaguars.
Herndon joined the Jags as a UDFA in 2018 and has been with the team ever since. The team brought him back for multiple one-year deals before letting him walk this offseason. Herndon logged nine pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one TFL as a part-time player in 2023. He has also held a role on special teams throughout his career. Herndon will compete for the primary nickel corner job in New York and will also see work on special teams.

Herndon has 67 appearances with 30 starts over the last five seasons. He's had a backup role the past two years, playing 40% of defensive snaps and 16% on special teams. Herndon could see a larger role in 2023 after the release of CB Shaq Griffin.
CBS Sports' Josina reports the Falcons, 49ers, and Giants "have shown preliminary interest" in CB Tre Herndon.
According to Anderson, Herndon "is not returning to Jacksonville". After spending five seasons with the Jaguars, Herndon, a former undrafted free agent from the 2018 class, should have some value as added depth in the secondary. He saw significant work as a slot corner during the final five weeks of the regular season.

Herndon will return for a fifth season with Jacksonville as a special teams player an occasional secondary contributor. Herndon, 26, hasn't recorded an interception since 2019, when he had three picks for the Jags.
