Bengals re-signed CB Torry McTyer to a one-year contract.
McTyer was a restricted free agent who was not tendered a contract, so he is obviously re-signing for less than the "low" amount of $2.144 million. The former Dolphin was active just five times in 2019.
McTyer (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's matchup against the Dolphins, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
McTyer is simply a depth option in the Bengals' secondary when he suits up, so expect Tony McRae and Greg Mabin to back up starters William Jackson and B.W. Webb in Week 16.
The Bengals signed McTyer on Thursday.
McTyer's spot on Cincinnati's roster comes following the placement of Darius Phillips (knee) on injured reserve. The 25-year old projects to play a depth role in the Bengals' secondary and contribute on special teams.
The Dolphins released McTyer on Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
McTyer had a decent role in the Dolphins' defense last season, averaging 22.2 defensive snaps per game and recording 30 tackles. The Dolphins picked up Jomal Wiltz and Eric Rowe this offseason to complement Xavien Howard, so they let McTyer go. He'll seek a depth role elsewhere.
