Tony Moeaki
Player News
Bears have informed TE Tony Moeaki his contract will be terminated.
This move comes as a surprise, as he was having a solid preseason and was expected to be the backup to Zach Miller. Instead, Rob Housler and Khari Lee will be the depth behind the starter Miller.
Bears signed free agent Tony Moeaki.
Moeaki had a strong rookie season but has regressed in his receiving numbers each year since. He will serve as depth for the team at the tight end position as Zach Miller is the presumptive starter.
Tony Moeaki had two receptions on three targets for 47 yards and a touchdown in the Falcons loss to New Orleans on Sunday.
Tony Moeaki made the most of his opportunities on Sunday for Atlanta. Moeaki caught two of his three targets for 47 yards and a touchdown. Of course, fantasy owners are disappointed by Julio Jones not getting the score, but with Matt Ryan’s propensity to throw to the tight end in the red zone, Moeaki was able to score. His role moving forward is not assured as Jacob Tamme was consistently more targeted and effective for the Falcons.
Tony Moeaki signed with the Falcons on Tuesday
With Jacob Tamme sidelined with a concussion, the Falcons will add Moeaki to provide depth and back up Levine Toilolo at the tight end position. Given how little the Falcons have utilized their tight end over the last few seasons, it doesn't appear that Moeaki will have much in the way of fantasy value.
