Tony Lippett
Player News
Lippett agreed to an undisclosed contract with the Bengals on Tuesday, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.
Lippett was cut by the Giants on Thursday, but was able to find a new team without a week going by. Last season, he suited up in just three games, collecting one tackle and pass defended in the process. Lippett will hope to latch on with Cincinnati as a depth cornerback for 2019.
Lippett was released by the Giants on Wednesday, Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reports.
Lippett played three games with the Giants in 2018, notching one tackle and one pass defended. He previously started the full 2016 campaign in Miami. The 27-year-old will look to compete for a depth role elsewhere in the league.
Tony Lippett is starting for the Dolphins in Week 4.
Lippett is getting the call over Byron Maxwell on Thursday Night Football against Cincinnati for his first action of the season. He is in his second year in the league after being a fifth-round selection in the 2015 draft but hasn't played even one snap this year. He along with rookie corner Xavien Howard will try and slow down A.J. Green and company in what is shaping up to be a bad night for the Dolphins secondary.
Tony Lippett has been losing first-team reps to Chimdi Chekwa.
Remember that Lippett was a receiver in college at Michigan State, and the Dolphins decided to convert him to a press-cover CB after drafting him in 2014 with the 156th overall pick. What happens in camp does not necessarily play out once the pre-season games begin and there is plenty of time between now and the first game of the season.
