Jaguars re-signed WR Terry Godwin.
Jacksonville did not disclose contract details in their announcement, but it is likely a one-year deal for Godwin, who was an exclusive rights free agent. Godwin has made three appearances since joining the league in 2019 and spent last season on injured reserve. If he latches onto the roster in August, it will likely be as a special teamer.
Godwin (undisclosed) had his practice squad contract with the Jaguars expire Monday, freelance NFL writer Howard Balzer reports.
Godwin spent the entire season on the Jaguars' practice squad, but he moved to the practice squad injured list in mid-December. The 23-year-old was selected in the seventh round during April's draft by the Panthers but was unable to crack the season-opening roster.
The Jaguars placed Godwin on the practice squad injured list Thursday.
The nature and severity of Godwin's injury remain undisclosed. The rookie seventh-round pick was a five-star recruit out of high school, and he could get a chance to compete for a depth role in the offseason if healthy.
Godwin got scooped up by the Jaguars' practice squad Tuesday.
Godwin went to the Panthers in the seventh-round of the 2019 NFL Draft, but was recently waived during final roster cuts. The Jaguars must have seen something they liked with the young pass-catcher, as they have opted to bring him in to their practice unit.
