Jaguars signed S Terrell Edmunds, formerly of the Titans.

Edmunds was traded from the Eagles to the Titans last season and totaled 48 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and one interception while splitting time with the two teams. The former first-round pick was let go by the Steelers after his rookie contract expired at the end of the 2022 season and is now set to play for his third team in two years. He’ll have a chance to provide added depth to the Jaguars’ secondary but is unlikely to be viewed as a starter at this point. In addition to Edmunds, they also signed cornerback Tre Flowers and linebacker Ty Summers.

Edmunds joined the Eagles on a one-year deal earlier this offseason and will likely be a free agent next offseason. The veteran safety previously played for the Steelers (2018-2022), but wasn’t asked to return once his contract expired. In six games with the Eagles this season, Edmunds has drawn three starts while playing on 296 defensive snaps. He’s be targeted 10 times and allowed 101 receiving yards this season while earning a PFF coverage grade of 58.5. A solid tackler who has excelled in run stopping this season, Edmunds will look to string together a solid few weeks for the Titans in hopes of earning a new contract next season.

Edmunds is likely to take over the role vacated by C.J. Gardner-Johnson after he left for the Lions on a one-year contract. A former first-round pick by the Steelers in 2018, Edmunds has appeared in 15 or more games through his first five seasons in the league but has struggled at times in pass coverage. He allowed a career-high four receiving touchdowns last season while opposing receivers have converted 67.2 percent of their targets into receptions when facing him.

Edmunds is still working his way back from the concussion he suffered in Week 4 versus the Jets. Before going down, Edmunds had played on nearly every defensive snap for the Steelers.
