Titans released LT Taylor Lewan.
Tennessee clears $14.8 million in cap space with the move. Lewan missed almost the entire 2022 season with a knee injury he suffered in Week 2, and the veteran is widely expected to retire this offseason. The former No. 11 overall pick in 2014 has missed 30 games the last three years to various injuries. Without Lewan, the Titans offensive line was graded by Pro Football Focus as the league's worst pass-blocking unit in 2022.
Titans LT Taylor Lewan (knee) could retire this offseason.
Lewan lasted two games before a season-ending knee injury landed him on IR. The former No. 11 overall pick has missed 30 games the last three years to injuries and could decide to retire this offseason. Tennessee is expected to release Lewan, clearing $14.8 million in 2023 cap space. Lewan's history of knee injuries will limit him to one-year deals if he returns.
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Titans OT Taylor Lewan will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
Lewan exited Week 2's contest on a cart after only two offensive snaps. Initial fears of extensive damage to the knee have been confirmed through follow-up testing, with Rapoport now reporting the veteran tackle will miss the remainder of the season. It's a tough blow and could spell trouble for a team struggling to the tune of 3.83 running back yards per carry. Dennis Daley replaced Lewan at left tackle last week. Lewan’s play has been slipping for years. He’ll be 32 years old next offseason.
AtoZSports.com's Buck Reising reports the Titans "fear" Taylor Lewan (knee) could be out for the season.
Lewan went down with a seemingly serious knee injury on the second play of the Titans' Week 2 loss to Buffalo. He was carted to the locker room. "Those close to the situation initially believed Lewan likely to be done for the 2022 season, but the lineman will undergo further testing on Wednesday," Reising said. It would be a huge loss for the Titans, who offensive line has been shredded by the Giants and Bills in the season's first two weeks. The Titans may be inching closer to giving Malik Willis a real look in what will likely be a lost season.
