Bears re-signed S Tarvarius Moore to a one-year contract.
Going on age 29, Moore was a core special teamer last season. He played zero snaps on defense. That should remain the case for 2025.
Packers signed DB Tarvarious Moore, formerly of the 49ers.
The team also announced the signing of long snapper Matt Orzech. Moore was drafted in the third round in 2018. The 49ers repeatedly moved him between safety and corner but never found a consistent role for him on defense. He missed all of the 2021 season with a torn Achilles tendon. When Moore returned in 2022, he was relegated to special teams duties. He will serve as a reserve defensive back and a special teamer for the Packers.
The Athletic's Matt Barrows reports 49ers DB Tarvarius Moore tore his Achilles tendon.
Moore had been playing strong safety before the injury, which will likely end his 2021 season. The Niners' No. 95 pick in the 2018 draft, Moore shifted to safety after playing cornerback in college. He'll be an unrestricted free agent in 2022.
Moore recorded 25 tackles (16 solo) over 16 games in 2019.
Moore started the first three games of the season while Jimmie Ward healed from a preseason injury, racking up 14 of his 25 total tackles over that span. The 23-year-old reverted to the special teams unit for the remaining 13 games, recording just 42 defensive snaps to close out the regular season. Moore could be in the mix for the starting free safety job if San Francisco isn't able to retain the services of Ward, but the team would undoubtedly bring in more options if that scenario unfolded, which could keep the young safety in a backup role.
