Vikings signed LB Tanner Vallejo.
The special teams ace joins the Vikings for his seventh professional season, the previous three plus of which were spent as a member of the Cardinals. He started seven games over the preceding two seasons in Arizona due to injuries and provides the Vikings with a viable depth piece in addition to his work on special teams.
Cardinals re-signed LB Tanner Vallejo to a two-year, $4.1 million contract.
Vallejo played just 95 snaps on defense in 2020 but is a core special teamer for Arizona. The 26-year-old has been with the Cardinals for 1.5 seasons.
Vallejo (ribs) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Vallejo played nine games with the Redskins to start the year, working strictly in a special-teams role before being cut. The Cardinals brought him aboard Dec. 4, and he played two games with the team in a reserve linebacker role, notching seven tackles and a sack. Vallejo is signed through the 2020 season at a cap hit of $735,000.
Vallejo was forced out of Sunday's game against the Browns with a rib injury, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Vallejo was promoted from the practice squad ahead of Week 14's loss to the Steelers, where he made five solo tackles and a sack. The third-year linebacker generated two solo stops before leaving this contest. Vallejo works in a reserve role, and his practice status will be monitored leading up to Week 16's game against the Seahawks.
