Bears signed WR Tajae Sharpe, formerly of the Falcons, to a one-year contract.
Sharpe, 27, spent last season in Atlanta where he posted a 25-230-0 line on 37 targets, spanning 15 appearances and seven starts for the talent-deficient Falcons. He hasn't caught a touchdown since 2019. At his best, Sharpe is a fourth wideout who doesn't play special teams. He'll compete for a job in Chicago.
Tajae Sharpe did not catch either of his targets in Atlanta's Week 18 loss to New Orleans.
He did catch a two-point conversion with 10 seconds left, but the Falcons held on the play and had to settle for kicking. Reunited with former offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, Sharpe posted a vintage Sharpe line of “being a good run blocker and incidentally catching some footballs along the way.” The veteran will be an available free-agent depth piece again in 2022, and he’ll handle the dirty jobs while being valueless in fantasy football.
Falcons placed Tajae Sharpe on the reserve/COVID list.
DT Tyeler Davison, LB Brandon Copeland, and LB James Vaughters also ended up on the COVID list. Sharpe missed Week 16 because of a foot injury, and now it looks like he is going to be sidelined for Week 17 as well. Russell Gage and Kyle Pitts remain the only fantasy-relevant members of Atlanta's passing game.
Falcons declared WR Tajae Sharp, QB Josh Rosen, DL John Cominsky, and OL Josh Andrews inactive for Week 16 against the Lions.
Sharpe was doubtful with a foot injury and unable to suit up. Ultimately, the Falcons will be at near full strength against Detroit. The Lions are coming off a huge win against the Cardinals, but remain high exploitable on defense, particularly through the air.
