Shon Coleman
Player News
Bears signed OT Shon Coleman.
Coleman, a cancer survivor who opted out of the 2020 NFL season due to COVID-19, hasn't played a regular season game since 2017 with the Browns. He was signed by the Niners in March 2020 after missing all of 2019 with an ankle injury. Coleman could be a depth player for a Chicago offensive line graded by Pro Football Focus as the league's 17th best pass-blocking unit in 2021.
49ers OT Shon Coleman has opted out of the 2020 season.
A cancer survivor, Coleman is likely a "high-risk" opt out. 2020 will be the third straight year Coleman fails to play a down for the 49ers. He missed all of 2019 with a devastating leg/ankle injury. Three months shy of his 29th birthday, Coleman doesn't have much of an NFL future.
49ers re-signed OT Shon Coleman to a one-year contract.
Coleman missed all of last season with a dislocated ankle. He'll compete for one of the backup tackle jobs this summer.
Coleman (ankle) will be placed on injured reserve Monday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Lee was already expected to be out "several months" with the ankle injury that forced him to be carted off the field during Saturday's preseason opener. Now, Coleman will be placed on injured reserve and likely be out for the entire 2019 season.
