Day played a bigger role than expected in 2024, appearing in 12 games for the Commanders while finishing fourth among defensive linemen on the team with 272 snaps. Day, an eight-year vet of the league who has played for six different teams, will have a chance to catch on as added depth this offseason after totaling 24 tackles and two TFLs last season, but he’s no lock to make the 53-man roster.

Day spent last season with the Browns, playing seven games. He has been sitting out camp because of a back injury. Cleveland also waived OT Elijah Nkansah. 

The Browns also announced the singings of Stephen Weatherly, Ja'Marcus Bradley, and Michael Dunn. Day bounced between the Browns' practice squad and active roster throughout the year in 2021. He ultimately appeared in seven games, totaling 21 tackles, one sack, and one QB hit. If he makes Cleveland's final roster this year, he will continue to play a rotational role on the defensive line. 

Day reportedly rotated with Cleveland's first-team defense during training camp, making his release something of a surprise. Now 27, Day is two years removed from a standout season with the 49ers. Other teams are certain to bring in Day for a workout in September.
