Browns placed DL Shelby Harris on injured reserve, ending his season.
Harris signed a one-year contract extension with the Browns this offseason after a productive 2023 campaign in which he totaled 28 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 17 games. Harris totaled 37 tackles and another 1.5 sacks in the 14 games he appeared in this season, but an elbow injury will sideline him for the final two weeks of the 2024 campaign. Still under contract through next season, Harris, 33, can be let go this offseason but does carry a $2.224 million dead cap hit.
Browns signed DT Shelby Harris, formerly of the Seahawks, to a contract.
Harris visited with the Browns in late July and is now set to join the team. The veteran DT spent last season with the Seahawks, starting 15 games while totaling 44 tackles, five TFLs, and two sacks. The soon-to-be 32-year-old has started every game he’s appeared in since 2019 and brings plenty of experience to a Browns defense that hopes to improve on last year’s eighth-worst run-stopping unit.
NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reports the Browns are working out free agent DE Shelby Harris.
Harris is just days removed from a visit with the Broncos and is now taking his free-agent tour to Cleveland. A nine-year NFL vet, Harris was dealt to Seattle last offseason and went on to start 15 games for the Seahawks. He totaled 44 tackles, five TFLs, and two sacks and should be a welcomed addition to whichever defensive line he ends up on.
Broncos hosted free agent DE Shelby Harris for a workout.
Harris was sent to Seattle as a part of the infamous Russell Wilson trade. He started in all 15 games he was active for, tallying two sacks and five TFLs in the process. Harris was released by Seattle after the season. He would only return to the Broncos as a depth option, though his familiarity with the organization makes a signing seem likely.
