Free agent OG Senio Kelemete is trying out with the Saints.
Kelemete played four seasons as a reserve guard with New Orleans from 2014-2017, started for a year in Houston in 2018, and has been mostly a reserve since. He did start a few games for the Chargers last season. New Orleans doesn't have much in the way of established depth behind Andrus Peat, Erik McCoy, and Cesar Ruiz, so it makes sense to see if Kelemete has anything left at 32.
49ers signed G Senio Kelemete, formerly of the Texans.
Kelemete appeared in 14 games with five starts for Houston in 2020. He's regarded as a versatile lineman who has played guard and tackle. The Niners are scrambling to build offensive line depth after losing OT Justin Skule to an ACL injury. The 49ers will be Kelemete's fourth team since entering the NFL in 2012 with the Cardinals.
Texans released OG Senio Kelemete.
The move creates $1.725 million in cap space. The 31-year-old spent the past three seasons in Houston, making five 2020 starts for the Texans' typically-battered line. Never a true difference maker, Kelemete is mostly a liability at this stage of his career, but his experience will surely earn him calls on the open market.
Texans signed G Senio Kelemete to a one-year contract extension.
The deal will take him through 2021 with Houston. Kelemete started the team's regular season opener at left guard last year but quickly landed on injured reserve the following week. He'll compete for a starting role, but will likely land as the Texans' top reserve and swing tackle in-season.
