Scott Tolzien
Player News
Saints hired Scott Tolzien as the team’s quarterbacks coach.
Tolzien, 37, who played quarterback in the NFL from 2013 to 2017, will join Kellen Moore’s staff in New Orleans. Tolzien was on the Dallas coaching staff with Moore two years ago. In New Orleans, Tolzien will work with Derek Carr to implement Moore’s offense after he led the Eagles offense to a productive season that ended with a Super Bowl championship.
Tolzien retired from professional football and will serve as an analyst for the Wisconsin Badgers for the 2019 season, Jason Galloway of the Wisconsin State Journal reports.
Tolzien was drafted by the Birmingham Iron of the AAF in November but opted to retire before the start of training camp. The 32-year-old last served as a backup quarterback for the Colts in 2017 and will finish his career with 1,065 passing yards, two touchdowns and nine interceptions in 10 games.
Scott Tolzien has replaced Andrew Luck at quarterback for the Colts.
Don't worry Andrew Luck owners, there is no injury here. After slinging four touchdown passes against the anemic New York Jets, there is no need to leave him out there when the game is over. Tolzien will look to run out the clock by handing off the ball a bunch.
Colts are planning to start Scott Tolzien in Week 12.
With Andre Luck entering concussion protocol on Monday, it's unlikely he'll be ready to go on a short week on Thursday. The last time Tolzien started a game was back in 2013. He actually started two games that year, throwing 280-plus yards in each contest but had a 1:5 touchdown:interception ratio. He's not in play in any fantasy formats against a Steelers defense coming off a big performance in Week 11.
