Broncos signed RB Salvon Ahmed, formerly of the Dolphins, to their practice squad.
The Broncos add Ahmed after Tyler Badie went down in Sunday’s win over the Jets. Playing four seasons with the Dolphins, Ahmed has 163 carries for 593 yards and five touchdowns, adding 40 catches for 274 yards and a score. He will be depth for the Broncos, who have not found much consistent production from their running back room this season.
Dolphins released RB Salvon Ahmed.
Ahmed caught on with the Dolphins as an undrafted rookie during the 2020 season. The former Washington Husky rushed 75 times for 319 yards and three touchdowns in his rookie season, which included a 23-122-1 performance in Week 15 against the Patriots. Since then, Ahmed has fought to stick around on Miami’s roster. Over the last two seasons, he’s handled 88 carries, taking them for 274 yards and two scores while contributing primarily on special teams. At 25 years old, Ahmed should have no trouble catching on with another team, even if it’s as a camp body over the next few weeks. In addition to Ahmed, the Dolphins also placed wide receiver Willie Snead on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury.
KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson reports the Dolphins have agreed to terms with RB Salvon Ahmed on a one-year deal.
Ahmed, who’s been with the Dolphins since 2020, will return for another season as backfield depth behind Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achance. Ahmed in 2023 had 22 carries for 61 yards and a touchdown in eight games before sustaining a season-ending foot injury in late November.
NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reports the Colts are placing Salvon Ahmed on injured reserve.
Ahmed suffered a foot injury in Week 11 after filling in for De’Von Achane who also left with an injury. The injury dealt to Ahmed was serious enough that the Dolphins chose to put him on IR and they’ll use that spot to bring Robbie Chosen back to the active roster.
