Cowboys signed G Saahdiq Charles, formerly of the Titans, to a one-year contract
The four-year NFL veteran returns to the NFL after a brief retirement. Charles, who was set to start for the Titans in 2024, announced his decision to leave football during the preseason. Charles, a former fourth round draft pick by the Commanders, played four seasons from 2020 to 2023, starting 18 games. In 2023, PFF graded Charles 61st out of 88 guards in pass blocking.

Charles started 18 games with 35 total appearances for the Commanders during the first four years of his professional career before signing with the Titans on a “prove-it” contract last spring. He would not appear in a game while with the Titans after announcing his retirement during camp.

The deal is worth “up to” $2.5 million. A tackle by trade, Charles started a bevy of games at guard last season. He was a liability, but proving your versatility is an excellent way to prolong a career for an offensive lineman. Charles will be probably be a swing option off Tennessee’s bench.
