Ryan Nassib
Player News
Giants placed Ryan Nassib (elbow) on injured reserve.
It was a rough weekend for the Giants as they lost both Nassib and Shane Vereen for the season. They added LB Ishaq Williams and RB George Winn to the active roster. Josh Johnson will now serve as Eli Manning's backup. This is a tough break for impending free agent Nassib, who has not shown the ability to start in this league. He will likely be looking for a backup job this spring.
Eli Manning believes Ryan Nassib could be a starting quarterback in the NFL.
Backing up one of the most durable QBs in the game has it's drawbacks certainly. Ryan Nassib, the 2013 draft pick out of Syracuse has never had a significant snap with the New York Giants. However the man he backs up, Eli Manning, thinks he has what it takes to be a starter in this league, even if not for the Giants. Nassib's contract will be topic of discussion within the next few months for the Giants.
Ryan Nassib completed five of five passes for 68 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the Giants loss to Minnesota.
Nassib saw some game action while the Giants were getting blown out. He completed all five of his passes and threw for a touchdown, but it was in garbage time so do not make too much of it.
Ryan Nassib has won the back up quarterback job.
The Giants have opted to go with Nassib over Curtis Painter. Given the struggles of Eli Manning over the last two seasons, it\'s not totally out of the question that Nassib gets some work down the road. He\'s not worth drafting in fantasy though.
