Ryan Broyles
Player News
Ryan Broyles was not claimed on waivers. He’s now a free agent.
Broyles' promising career was derailed by two ACL surgeries and a torn Achilles. It's a sad story for the former second-round pick. His career is likely over.
The Lions are parting ways with WR Ryan Broyles.
Broyles never seemed to get accustomed to life in Detroit after being selected in the second round in 2012. He tended to two major injuries including an ACL tear and an Achilles' tendon rupture. He had just 32 catches for 420 yards and will look for a job elsewhere in the NFL.
Ryan Broyles was absent at OTAs Wednesday and coach Jim Caldwell said it was for personal reasons.
Broyles was believed to be tending to his wife, who had their first child on Friday. Expect Broyles to be back in a few days after she and the kid are settled in.
The Detroit Lions are going to give WR Ryan Broyles every chance to make the team this year.
Ryan Broyles has seen injures really derail his career with two ACL tears in and a ruptured achilles last season. The Lions signed Golden Tate in the off-season to line up opposite of Calvin Johnson and WR Kris Durham proved himself to be a valuable asset in the Lions pass heavy attack so the cards are really stacked against the talented but unproven Broyles.
