Travis (coach's decision) won't play in Sunday's game against the Bills.
Travis was claimed off waivers from the Colts on Saturday, so it's confusing why he was scooped with no plans of him playing in the Jets' finale. However, the Jets may have liked what they saw out of the 26-year-old Travis over three games with the Colts this season, so they could be trying to keep him with the franchise through the offseason program.
The Jets claimed Travis off waivers from the Colts on Saturday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Travis played three games with the Colts -- his first NFL action since 2017 -- and caught four of six targets for 51 yards. With Ryan Griffin (ankle) on injured reserve, Travis will add depth in the tight-end room. This will work as a tryout for Travis heading into the 2020 season.
The Colts cut Travis on Friday.
The 26-year-old had suited up in three of the last four contests for the Colts, hauling in four of six targets for 51 yards. With Week 17 on the horizon, it's likely that Travis will have to wait until 2020 to latch on with another team.
Travis had just one reception for one yard on his only target in Sunday's loss at Tampa Bay.
A week after he had his first two receptions of the season. Travis had a much smaller role and played just five snaps. It doesn't look like Mo Alie-Cox (16 snaps) or Travis will be big factors in the passing game even with Eric Ebron on IR with an ankle injury and several other wide receivers sidelined.
