Lions signed CB Rock Ya-Sin, formerly of the 49ers.

Ya-Sin joins his fourth team in four years after previously playing for the Raiders, Ravens, and Niners over the last three seasons. The former second-round pick appeared in 13 games for the 49ers last season but appeared on just 63 defensive snaps while totaling just three tackles and two pass breakups. He’s only 28, but Ya-Sin has started just 10 of the last 38 regular season games he’s appeared in since 2022. He’s strictly a depth signing at this point, and may be best suited on special teams.

49ers signed CB Rock Ya-Sin, formerly of the Ravens, to a once-year contract.

Ya-Sin spent last season with the Ravens and wound up appearing in 14 games while making one start. He totaled 13 tackles and two pass breakups on the year while earning a PFF coverage grade of 63.8. However, he played on a career-low 279 defensive snaps—significantly less than his previous low of 592. Ya-Sin will provide nice depth to the 49ers’ secondary but is unlikely to draw many starts.

Ravens declared QB Josh Johnson, QB Malik Cunningham, OL Sam Mustipher, OL Malesala Aumavae-Laulu, CB Damarion Williams, and CB Rock Ya-Sin inactive for Week 15 against the Jaguars.

The Ravens remain at a state of relative health outside of the obvious absence of running back J.K. Dobbins and tight end Mark Andrews. A win against the Jaguars gives the Ravens a stranglehold on the top playoff seed in the AFC.
