Robert Griffin

Baltimore Ravens - QB

Robert Griffin III said he trains every day and would be willing to return to the NFL.

A commentator for ESPN, RGIII reportedly piqued the interest of a few NFL teams this spring when he ran an unofficial 4.48 40-yard dash in Rich Eisen's charity event. “I am ready to go right now. I train every day. I throw and workout. I know what it takes to get my body ready and I am doing those things," said Griffin, 32, who last played for the Ravens in 2020, rushing for 68 yards on seven carries and throwing for 33 yards and an interception before suffering an injury in his lone start that season. "Yes, it is a little bit tougher when you are flying around everywhere doing stuff for TV, but when you really want something, you make it work. So, if I get that call this year, next year, or five years from now I will be ready to play." Griffin would make some sense as a backup quarterback in an offense predicated on a mobile signal caller. The Eagles and Ravens come to mind.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports free agent QB Robert Griffin III will join ESPN as a broadcaster.

Griffin still wants to play and reportedly has an out in his contract if an opportunity arises, but that seems unlikely given that every franchise has been able to sign him since January. He'll go the route that many former veterans take and instead cash in on his football knowledge in the booth. Griffin, 31, most recently totaled 101 yards from scrimmage in a single spot-start with the Ravens before landing on injured reserve last year.

Ravens waived Robert Griffin III.

UDFA Tyler Huntley showed enough in completing 6-of-13 passes for 60 yards (and rushing three times for 32 yards) in his fourth-quarter relief of Lamar Jackson in the Divisional Round to enter camp as the team's No. 2 quarterback. It's possible Griffin lands back with Baltimore in free agency, but his reserve role will instead likely fall to Trace McSorley. The team also waived veterans DB Davontae Harris, WR De'Anthony Harris (COVID opt-out) and DB Tramon Williams.

Ravens placed Robert Griffin III (thigh) on injured reserve.

Griffin got one start, threw for 33 yards, rushed for 68 yards, and landed on IR with a thigh injury. The Ravens hope Lamar Jackson (COVID-19) can rejoin the active roster before Tuesday's game against the Cowboys, but if he can't play, Trace McSorley would get the start for Baltimore. The second-year QB completed two of his six attempts last week against Pittsburgh, hitting Marquise Brown for a long touchdown. McSorley would be nothing beyond a last ditch superflex option against Dallas.
