Paul Richardson

There's an ongoing competition for the No. 3 receiver spot behind Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf. Richardson is out of the race for now, especially with Josh Gordon re-signed. He was a bust in Washington after a few quality seasons in Seattle a few years ago. Richardson is only a depth option moving forward.

It’s a homecoming for Richardson, who played his first four years in Seattle. Richardson knows the Seahawks’ offense but needs to get in game shape after going unsigned since February. It’s not a lock Richardson is active Week 1.

He's expected to undergo COVID-19 testing and possibly sign later this week. Richardson, 28, the Seahawks' former second round draft pick, was released by Washington in February after catching 48 passes in 17 games for the Football Team. Richardson's best season was 2017, when he saw 80 targets from Russell Wilson and finished as fantasy's 39th highest scoring wideout. The signing would bring the Seahawks some depth to a position lacking it, though there's no clear path to fantasy relevance for Richardson. 

It isn't clear if Richardson was approached about a pay cut before the final decision was made. Either way, he'll be free to immediately sign with a new team, after making it just two seasons deep on a five-year, $40 million contract. Richardson, who will turn 28 in April, missed the final five games of 2019 with a hamstring injury. A 44-703-6 receiving line for the 2017 Seahawks represents the only productive season on his NFL resume.
