Bears signed WR Olamide Zaccheaus, formerly of the Commanders, to a one-year contract.
Zaccheaus posted career-highs in both targets (62) and receptions (45) while tying his career-high in touchdowns (three) with the Commanders last season. The Washington team also tasked him with returning punts, but he delivered mixed results by averaging 10.5 yards per, and muffing two. He turns 28 in July. Zaccheus will duke it out with incumbent WR Tyler Scott for the No. 3 role, unless a Day 1 or Day 2 rookie is added to the mix via the 2025 NFL draft.
Olamide Zaccheaus caught 4-of-5 targets for 26 yards in the Commanders’ NFC Championship Game loss to the Eagles.
A one-year afterthought signing in free agency, 27-year-old Zaccheaus ended up randomly having a career year after entrenching himself in three-receiver sets down the stretch. 21 of his career-high 45 receptions came over his final five games. It was enough to keep Zaccheaus front of mind as the ascending Commanders consider their 2025 receiver corps, but Zaccheaus will remain best left on waiver wires in shallower Dynasty leagues.
Olamide Zaccheaus (hip) was removed from the injury report and will play in the NFC Championship Game against the Eagles.
Zaccheaus went down with the groin issue last week. He left in the first half of the Commanders’ win over the Lions but returned for some snaps in the second half. Washington limited his reps on Wednesday and Thursday before upgrading him to a full session on Friday. With Dyami Brown emerging as the team’s apparent No. 2 receiver, Zaccheaus is only a dart-throw play for Sunday’s slate of games.
Olamide Zaccheaus (hip) was limited in Thursday’s practice.
Zaccheaus has been limited in back-to-back practices to start the week. The veteran receiver was limited by the same injury in last week’s win over the Lions but appears to be trending in the right direction for Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Eagles. We’ll have more clarity on his status on Friday’s final report is released.
