A 2018 fourth-rounder, Nelson appeared in just two games last season. He never really seemed to get on the same page as coach Jon Gruden and his staff. Nelson has primarily played slot corner in the NFL.

Nelson was promoted from the practice squad Dec. 11 and suffered the injury during his second game on the 53-man roster. Jeremiah Valoaga was claimed off waivers in a corresponding move.

Nelson was hurt in just his second game on the active roster this season. The Raiders will be without some of their special-teams depth for the rest of the game.

Nelson, who appeared in 10 games as a rookie with the Raiders in 2018, will provide depth at cornerback in Week 15 against the Falcons with starter Daryl Worley (neck) potentially staring at an absence.
