Patriots released OL Nick Leverett.
The Patriots signed Leverett to a deal earlier this offseason after he spent the first three seasons of his career with the Buccaneers. He started in just one of the five games he appeared in for the Patriots this year, earning a PFF blocking grade of 38.1 while allowing 10 pressures and one sack. Leverett started in Week 5 at center for the Patriots, but saw that job go to Ben Brown in Week 6. A veteran with nearly 1,000 offensive snaps under his belt, Leverett could find himself on another team as added depth in the future.
Patriots agreed to terms with G Nick Leverett, formerly of the Buccaneers.
Leverett entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Rice, splitting the last four seasons between the Buccaneers’ practice squad and active roster. He started 10 games for the Buccaneers in 2022 and acted as reserve depth for the team in 2023, appearing in three games. The Patriots expect to sign him as a depth option on the offensive line, giving Leverett the chance to make the roster as a backup for 2024.
