Chargers CB Nasir Adderley announced in an Instagram post that he has retired after four seasons.
Adderley writes in his post, "Over the past couple of years I have denied this realization, but I'm finally going to put myself first for once. My health is above anything and everyone around me knows that." After playing four seasons in the NFL, Adderley, 25, is ready to hang it up. The former second-round pick started 44 games for the Chargers over the last three seasons, totaling 232 tackles, and three interceptions while breaking up 12 passes. Adderley was an unrestricted free agent at the time he announced his retirement.
Adderley (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve Saturday.
Adderley will see his rookie season come to a premature end, having only played 10 defensive snaps in four games. The 2019 second-round pick was expected to be a critical factor in the Chargers' secondary depth, but a hamstring injury prior to training camp ultimately forced him to miss the opening three exhibition contests, and returned following a handful of regular-season games, ultimately ending his season early.
Adderley (hamstring) was ruled out for Sunday's game at Chicago.
Adderley didn't practice this week and will miss his fourth consecutive game. The 22-year-old played only 10 defensive snaps through four games before suffering the injury, so his absence is unlikely to significantly impact the Chargers.
Adderley (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's tilt against the Titans.
Adderley is primarily a depth safety and contributor on special teams, so his absence is unlikely to have much of an impact. His next chance to suit up will be in Week 8 versus the Bears.
