Panthers re-signed FB Mike Tolbert.
Everyone's least favorite vulture is back in the mix for another season with the Panthers. The rotund running back has been with the Panthers since 2012 and has punched in 18 touchdowns in that time. Tolbert has nice hands out of the back field and was used primarily as a third down back and goal line runner.
Free-agent-to-be Mike Tolbert ‘absolutely’ wants to return to the Panthers.
Tolbert has found solid success in Carolina as their goal line running back and given the success the Panthers have had this year it would only make sense that he would like to return. In his four seasons with the Panthers Tolbert has rushed for 878 yards and 13 touchdowns while adding 84 catches for 699 yards and five touchdowns.
Mike Tolbert (knee) did not practice on Thursday.
Coach Ron Rivera said he's not worried about anyone's status for the Super Bowl, so Tolbert's absence from practice was more precautionary than anything. Tolbert didn't play a big role in either playoff win, but he's a nice change of pace back for the Panthers.
Mike Tolbert's knee is fine and should not be an issue.
The fullback left the NFC title game in the second half with the knee injury that is being described as a "little discomfort" by head coach Ron Rivera. With two weeks now to get ready for Super Bowl 50, he should have no trouble being 100% healthy in time for the game considering that most teams use the first week as a bye week traditionally.
