Rich Cimini reported that it was odd to see Remmers inactive since he was elevated from the practice squad last week. Nonetheless, the Jets will attempt to be the second New York-based team to upset the Packers this season. 

The deal includes $3.5 million guaranteed, suggesting Remmers will remain in the starting mix along the Chiefs' overhauled offensive line. Another $3.5 million is available through incentives. A fill-in starter most of the 2020 season at right tackle for Mitchell Schwartz, Remmers had to flip to the blindside for the Super Bowl, where he was relentlessly exposed in the Chiefs' dismal loss. He nevertheless held up reasonably well on the right side for the most of the year. At the very least, he gives the Chiefs a good fall-back plan if a better starting option does not materialize. Second-year pro Lucas Niang will be another option after opting out of the 2020 campaign. 

Remmers has been a starter the past six seasons but has never been more than a replacement-level option. He played all 14 games he was healthy for at right tackle for the Giants last year. Remmers could be an option on the interior for Kansas City after not re-signing Stefan Wisniewski.

Remmers, 31, has bounced around the NFL in recent years, settling in as a replacement-level starter. He started 14 games for the Giants last season after being released by the Vikings the previous offseason. Remmers has had back issues in the past but will likely be a starter in 2020.
