Seahawks punter Michael Dickson (back) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.
Dickson was listed as limited on Wednesday’s practice report due to back spasms. Seahawks kicker Jason Myers took a few punts in practice and looks to double as the punter should Dickson miss Week 14. The Australian has been the Seahawks’ punter since entering the league in 2018 and is averaging 48.7 yards per punt this season after averaging a career-high 50.0 yards per punt last season. Dickson still has a few days to practice and get healthy to punt against the Cardinals.
Seahawks signed P Michael Dickson to a four-year, $14.5 million contract.
The deal has a total max value of $16 million, with $10.6 million over the first two years. Dickson, 25, was in the final year of his rookie contract after being a fifth-round pick in 2018. He led the NFL with 32 punts inside the 20 last season and set a Seahawks record with a 49.6 yards per punt average. Dickson's $3.63 million APY makes him the second highest paid punter behind Johnny Hekker.
Dickson averaged 45.1 yards per punt and landed 34 punts inside the 20-yard line in 2019.
It was going to tough for Dickson to follow up his All-Pro rookie season where he recorded 48.2 yards per punt -- second in the league -- but he landed more punts inside the 20 than he did in 2018 (28). In fact, his mark 34 this season ranked third in the league. The Australian punter is locked into a starting role again in 2020.
