Maurice Jones-Drew will sign a one-day deal to retire as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars next Tuesday.

This is fitting as Jones-Drew spent most of his career playing for the Jaguars. He will finish his career with 126 games played, 8,167 yards on the ground, and 68 touchdowns. Jones-Drew will likely continue his career as an analyst after he officially retires.

Maurice Jones-Drew has announced his retirement from the NFL.

The long-time Jaguars running back compiled 11,111 total yards from scrimmage (only 167 of which are from his one season in Oakland in 2014), 79 TDs (all with Jacksonville). Unfortunately, MJD was never the same after suffering a Lisfranc injury in 2012 which required surgery, which was only one year after he lead the NFL in rushing with 1,606 yards.

Maurice Jones-Drew is not expected back with the Raiders unless he takes a pay cut.

His season in Oakland was awful, as he did not score a TD and averaged only 2.2 yards per carry. His contract has two more years on it, but with the emergence of Latavius Murray, he may be expendable without agreeing to a significant reduction in salary.

Maurice Jones-Drew will need to keep his weight where it needs to be next season so he can be an explosive runner again, according to head coach Jack Del Rio.

MJD hasn't been an explosive runner in years and regardless of weight, he's not about to be ever again. Del Rio can give all the lip service he wants to promote his aging back, but everyone knows that it is time to give Latavius Murray the starting nod and move away from recent running back failures. Jones-Drew is nothing more than a complementary back if he can stay healthy.
