Former Packers K Mason Crosby retired after 17 NFL seasons.
Crosby will retire with the Packers after spending 16 years as the team’s kicker. He spanned the entirety of the Aaron Rodgers era and was one of the NFL’s most reliable kickers until his final two seasons. Crosby, who had nine seasons in which he converted more than 80 percent of his field goal tries and three season with at least 30 field goals made, finishes his career with the tenth most points among kickers in league history. Only 12 kickers in NFL history had more field goal attempts than Crosby.
Mason Crosby retired from the NFL after 17 seasons.
Crosby spent the first 16 seasons of his career with the Packers, who drafted him in the sixth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. The former Colorado Buffalo was never named as an All-Pro or to the Pro Bowl, but he did play a role in the Packers winning a Super Bowl in the 2010 season. A lifetime 81.3 percent kicker on his field goal attempts, Crosby retires ranked as the 59th most accurate kicker of all-time.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports the Giants have signed Mason Crosby to their practice squad and he will kick for them in Week 16 against the Eagles.
Crosby will be elevated from the practice squad to the active roster over the weekend. Cade York is dealing with a leg injury and is done for the season after being placed on the practice squad injured reserve. Crosby was most recently with the Rams. He signed with the team ahead of Week 14 and was called up to the active roster but did not attempt any kicks. Crosby’s first kick with the Giants will be his first of the 2023 season.
The Rams released K Mason Crosby.
Crosby was signed by the Rams prior to Week 14 and elevated to the active roster, though he did not play. It seems the Rams prefer to continue rolling with Lucas Havrisik at kicker while Crosby will now be looking for a new team to kick for.
