Marcus Williams
Player News
Marcus Williams is expected to miss several weeks with a high ankle sprain.
Williams has been forced to play 405 effective snaps as a sub-package corner this season with a lot of injuries to the Jets secondary. This is a huge blow to already beat up and under manned unit. Darryl Roberts would be the man to get more snaps with Williams out.
Marcus Williams (ankle) is questionable to return on Sunday.
A backup for the Jets the loss would be minimal if he can't return. Juston Burris will fill in for Williams in the meantime.
Marcus Williams will not just play the slot corner role in nickel packages for the Jets in 2016.
We expect that the Jets will have Buster Skrine play opposite Darrelle Revis in most base sets, but he will kick inside in nickel as well. It was a tough road for Williams in his one start at free safety last year, but he was solid at corner and has shown great playmaking instincts. He has seven interceptions over the past two seasons in limited action.
Marcus Williams (knee) is doubtful for Week 13.
The Jets' secondary is already going to be without Revis on Sunday, so they can ill-afford to be without Williams as well. If Williams does not play on Sunday, fantasy owners should try to avoid starting the Jets' defense/special teams. Check Fantasy Alarm on Saturday and Sunday to see if the Jets list him as active. Williams does have nine pass deflections, five interceptions, 1 1/2 sacks and one forced fumble this season, so he could be an option in IDP leagues if he is playing.
